Road Trippin’

Last summer (June 2018) My boyfriend Kuzi, our dog Nala and I decided to take a 3 week road trip – 🙂 

We both are able to work remote and have always wanted to take advantage of that opportunity to go and explore… so we finally did — I thought this was going to be a hassle as we didn’t really plan specifically where we would be staying in each location, but going in with excitement, open mind and heart and knowing that its about making memories exploring together it made the trip one of the best things we’ve ever done!
Talk about spending 24/7 with your significant other, tests you FOR SURE, lucky we passed 🙂

Our trip started off in Durango Colorado, if you have not had a chance to go please put it on your list, summer time has beautiful weather and gorgeous views!

We stayed in Durango for the weekend; went on a few hikes and explored downtown

Sadly on our way out we saw the 416 Fire start

We then made our way to Vail Colorado –

Side note: I have had the pleasure of experience Colorado (both Durango, and Vail) during winter time only and let me tell you; Summer, wow! I was blown away, it is incredible! [if you can, or get a chance to…go here next]

Vail Colorado

We stayed there for 4 days, and did the same, lots of walking, hiking taking in the beautiful views, one thing that stuck with me was the cutest coffee shop/bakery we had lunch almost every day we were there, or at least that’s what I wanted to do. 🙂 Hovey and Harrison; you guys seriously the best!!

we also went to the movies and the movie theater and besides it being super cute they served popcorn in the bags like the good old days! 🙂

Vail Colorado ⇓

after a few days in Vail, we got on the road again and drove thru Idaho, a pleasantly surprising location, for me at least was a place that I would have never imagined it being SO BEAUTIFUL… we did not stay overnight but we pulled over on the side of the road because we saw a lake that reminded us of Hawaii, so we needed to jump in the water (and by we, I mean Kuzi and Nala)

I worked …. so dedicated I know 🙂

our next stop was:

Moab, Utah

.. this was one on the bucket list for me and it did NOT disappoint; unreal, I look back at pictures and can’t believe what my eyes saw, Mother Nature really is pretty amazing

we also got a chance to visit one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been (swear I didn’t feel like I was in Utah)

Eden, UT

then onto Jackson Wyoming we went

even though it was summer time, Nala was cold (and well so was I, but I am trying to toughen up so if Kuzi asks, I was not that cold)

⇐ Hot Chocolate

We took a gondola (holy crap was that scary) to the top of the mountain where people usually ski down but we were able to hike to the very top and have hot chocolate

Then moved onto Yellowstone National Park

the park is so big you can spend days there to try and see everything we mapped it out so that we were driving thru but still able to experience and see the beauty that it has to offer.

Kuzi and I played a game to see who would spot the most animals; he would say that he won, and Kuzi if you are reading this, you won … but guys we all know who truly won… 🙂

we saw a momma bear and her two little cubs, I was SO excited I nearly jumped out of a moving car to try and catch  a picture, I was not successful because I was SOOOO amazed by seeing them in person… I just wanted to run up to them and play with them

during our drive thru Yellowstone park we were making our way to our home for the night… and if you guessed Glamping, you guessed right 🙂

Under Canvas is where we stayed and – YOU GUYS seriously another bucket list for me and if you get a chance to do it, be like Nike and JUST DO IT (I hope I don’t have to pay them for saying their slogan)

we are now making our way back down to head home and on our way we stopped at:

Zion National Park

Another one for the books, extremely beautiful, we didn’t do a hike, we just drove thru the park and admired the scenery.

Part of this trip we celebrated our 6 year anniversary (Go us) … before making our way back to Arizona so we stopped in….

Las Vegas, Nevada

No pictures because “what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas right?!”

Oh and we didn’t do much besides order room service, watch movies and relax 🙂

so there you have it, that was our Road trip and it was so much fun! I loved every second of it, even during the times that I was tired and hungry 🙂 Just in case you were curious about the route we took here is the map

I hope this inspired you all to grab your bags pack your dog and your partner in crime and go on a road trip! it does not have to be a 3 week trip a weekend to explore something new is so much fun and can create lifetime memories!

Tips:

• what helped not feeling stuck in the car is that the most we would drive is 4 hours to our next location and would pull over on the side of the road (i.e. Idaho) to admire the beautiful views and just enjoy being there.
• We stayed in Airbnb’s and hotels (Marriott) is the best, Nala is a therapy dog so she was able to stay with us in hotels and in Airbnb’s we just made sure that pets were allowed.
• we also ended up buying a National Park year pass since we were hitting a lot of them and at the end it saved money, and even after we got home we were able to use it in other National Parks.
